* What to do with the removed Pieces?

I get a lot of questions about what to do with the chess pieces that are removed during play.  I tried to incorporate something into the original design of the board but it took away from the look of the board.  Here are a few ideas and I am working on some other ideas.

On the frame

On the frame

In our office we just set the removed pieces on top the frame.  This idea works fine with the wooden sets and most of the frames.  The Walnut Grain frame has a curve on the outside edge and does not work well.

Acrylic Shelf Frame

Acrylic Shelf Frame

This shelf works well for most sets, by giving a nice level shelf right to the wall.  I would avoid this option with the Antique Bronze and Walnut Grain frames.

I do not keep these in stock, I have them made to fit the size of the board and the frame when ordered.  Please allow one to two weeks.

Velvet Bag

Velvet Bag

This is a chocolate brown velvet bag that could be used for some of the wooden sets.  It comes with a decorative push pin hook.

Glass Shelf

Glass Shelf

This may be one of the best options if you don't mind putting another hole in your wall.  This shelf is only 3" out from the wall and will hold all the chess pieces.  This uses only one Pelican bracket and you will need to screw the bracket in very tight.  If you can screw it to a stud, that would be best.  Stack and Stacks.com also has a good selection of glass shelves.

Plant Stand

Plant Stand

Another option I like is to use a plant stand.  At at a height of 36" to 40" would bring it right to the bottom of the board.  Stack and Stacks.com  has a good selection of Plant stands and you can order directly from them.
