Travel Cribbage board showing the Perfect Hand for a design. The board is in two parts which are held together with 4 Rare Earth Magnets and the metal pegs store on the inside. The magnet on the end is square and has a dual purpose. It not only helps to hold the two boards together for storing the pegs but also holds the two boards together end to end for playing cribbage. It's a strong magnet and can work like a hinge as you can see in the one photo. I have considered making a travel board for a long time but wanted to make one without a hinge. I've had bad experiences with hinges falling apart or bending. This is my answer to that. Remember, you saw the square magnet with the dual purpose here first.
I used Cherry veneered plywood for the board and left the plywood sides open. When the board is folded it's 1 .5" thick and I thought the plywood sides gave it an interesting look. The top of the board has a red cherry stain. It looks nice and makes the holes and pattern stand out. Folded the board is 2 .25 x 5.5" long and 1.5" thick. When open for playing the board is 2.25 x 11" long.
When you open the board, do not pull the two pieces apart. The magnets are strong and you'll end up spilling the pegs. Just have board marked with TOP facing up and slide the top board to the side. It works very easy.
This board is 60 pegs around so twice for a full game. You can mark for the first or second time around. When you start game, the peg is in round 1. First one around moves the marker to round 2.
The board comes with 7 metal pegs. Two each for the play, one each to track the games and one to show the 1st and second rounds. It also comes with a brown velveteen carrying bag that is large enough to include a deck of cards.
