About Straight Up Chess boards
  • Your Straight Up Chess vertical chessboard hangs on the wall like Art and is designed to play a casual game of chess as you pass by. Make your move, mark it with the "Last Move" marker and go on your way.

  • The chess pieces set on narrow acrylic shelves which can be removed for cleaning and are replaceable if damaged. The slots cut in the boards for the shelves are cut within 1 to 2 thousand of an inch to provide a good fit.
  • Markers for "Last Move" and "Check/Checkmate" are included with every board.
Specs on this board
  • This board is designed for a 3" chess set, based on the tallest piece in the set. The spacing between the shelves is 3.25". The width of the individual tiles is 1.9".
  • Overall dimensions with this frame are 20 1/2" x 32 1/2".
  • Total weight with chess pieces is about 16 pounds. A wall hanger is included which is designed to hold 50 pounds in dry wall.
About the Chess Pieces
  • The chess pieces included with this set is the basic French Knight design. One side is Ebonized which means they are dyed Black. The light colored side is made of Boxwood.
Customizing
  • If you would like to make changes to the Board, frame or pieces as shown here, go to the menu click on Straight Up Chess boards and go to 'Build Your Custom Board'. There you can select the board background and frame and add that to your cart. Then go to the Chess Piece menu and select the chess pieces based on the board background you choose. There you will see all the chess piece options that should look good on your board and add them to your cart.
  • If you already have your own chess pieces and would like a custom board built around your set, click on 'Straight Up Chess boards' on the menu and go to 'Build Your Custom Board'. Select the board background, frame and size. Boards can be customized to fit 2" to 4.5" chess pieces.
